Want to sit outside The Art House and watch the world go by?

Lots of you have suggested that it would be great to sit out on the pavement on a summery day and watch the world go by.  We think it's a great idea too, and have submitted our application and paid our money to the council.  We should hear back any day now (fingers crossed!)

If all goes well, you will soon be able to sit in the sunshine and sip something cool (like a gin and tonic, or a cola float).

The application required us to state exactly which chairs and tables we were going to use.  The idea of this is to protect the overall appearance of the area.  Although we love mismatched secondhand furniture and it works beautifully in our space, if we're on the pavement we need to consider our neighbouring businesses and the general look of the cultural quarter.

This means buying new stuff when we're used to being more creative and saving money with wonky old things!  The total cost for new tables, chairs and barriers to comply with the requirements of our application is £585 and we need your help to raise it.

Here are some of our crew demonstrating the current sorry state of affairs.......no tables, no chairs.....just thin airs....

If you would like to help us turn the pavement outside into an al fresco extension of The Art House (pending council permission of course), please donate what you can to our 'Sunshine Fund', using the handy button below, or make a donation in person if you are in over the next few weeks.

Donate now before our crew get cramp in their thighs!

If the council do turn down our application, all funds raised will go towards our soon-to-be-started roof garden fund, which is a longer term and ambitious project to get outdoor seating on our flat roof.
