This morning, Chris and Deb turned up with a coffin in the back of their car.... what could it be for, you wonder?
Nope, the grim reaper hadn't visited us overnight (not this time, anyway)!
Who could it be?
Good grief! We didn't think they still mummified people these days.
Phew, the mummy appears to be a fake one and does not bring a curse (we hope) It was all for a window display for 'Dying Matters' awareness week 14th - 21st May 2012. This week aims to challenge the taboos around death & dying. Deb works at Oakhaven Hospice and approached us a while ago about doing a window display and drop-in with her partner, Chris, who works at Minstead Study Centre, where they are also hosting a 'Days of the Dead' event in November (check it out, it looks great!).
Ded feels very strongly that people should have access to as much information as possible about the options for Natural Death and 'alternative' funerals.
She also really likes brightly coloured Mexican stuff!!
Deb brought along some books, too, from useful reference books on Natural Death, to a worrying tome entitled 'All my friends are dead'.
