Bring on 2009!

I am very excited for 2009—both for me and the Art House. Yes, I know that sounds really lame and ultra-sunshine-y, but tough.
I am very optimistic about crafts at the Art House. I think I am starting to get to grips with the role itself, and am now hoping to push forward with a bunch of stuff to make it a “destination” for people who want unique handmade crafts by local artists.
I was thinking of trying to do a more “spring” décor so that we can welcome in the new season with some life and colour. I want bunting!! I know that I saw some in the Art House previously, so I’m hoping I can find it. I’d be happy to whip some up as well… I think having some for sale would be nice….

Would spelling out the Art House be too lame?

Probably…..
I also want to come up with some nice display ideas—having a stock of display-friendly fabric would be nice, but I need some other ideas as well. I like the clothes pin idea that we used for the Christmas Stars ornaments. Other ideas?
Also, I want to come up with some ideas that we might be able to ask some industrious people to make for sale. Especially recycled goods. Maybe we can check out what Waste Innovations are doing? Cara, do they have a website? Ziggy made a great point that functional items would be fantastic—people have enough stuff (although OUR stuff is especially cute, and is well worth displaying in your homes) so having little bike repair kits or waterproof-fabric bike baskets or kitchen storage things would be really great to have. Any ideas? Anyone willing to take on a project?

I am ALSO very excited for all the stuff I’m doing that isn’t at The Art House. What? you may ask, you do things OUTSIDE the Art House? I am super-psyched about the Women’s Environmental Network and our plans to take over the world…. I mean… plans to help ourselves and others make less of an impact on the environment and more of an impact on decision-making. I also want to start craft and art making myself,
I am gearing up for the SUPER AMAZING mail art workshop (hooray!!!) And I’m starting a Buy Nothing New year for 2009—check out my blog to find out more.
I think I’ve said tons, so I should stop and let someone else talk about their plans for 2009.

The crafts did so well in the festive run-up, I'm really looking forward to seeing where 2009 takes us!

Well done Megan for all your hard work - you've worked wonders in a really short time :)
