Metamorphosis DAY 12 Monday 6th April 2009

We're in the last week :)

Nina is now Tom's willing helper and the floor is going down super fast. Tom wants to poach Nina to work with him but he has no chance.

I had to stroke Nina's dreads a few times as it looks like she's going to shave them on Friday, unless somebody donates a load of cash to the 'no shave' fund. Aw.

Bik's back at work now and much missed on site. How we wish he didn't have to work, he misses lots of fun that way and is much needed at The Art House. He did come in for a few hours in the evening as did Tony, to grout his lovely tiling job. Ziggy had a elf in the form of Kate to help her paint the ceiling upstairs and Ruth came in to work on the soundproofing with Chris, whilst Nina and Tom finished the floor and I painted the loo blue. Sweet. Meanwhile Shane and Laura went all the way to Minstead to get the cooker, which they also had to take apart
in the end as the workmen didn't have time to do it. The workmen were going to bash it apart with a sledgehammer and put it in a skip! A perfectly functional, six-ring gas catering cooker!!!! We truly are the Age of Stupid.

Ouir skip goes tomorrow, it's quite full but we did recycle a lot - timber was picked up by various people for reuse or firewood, metal went to the scrap merchants and we managed to salvage copper and other pipes for the plumbing. We've re-used a lot of the panelling we too
off to build the stud wall in the kitchen and to cover over various bits, and the wood bits we're keeping to make a room divider and various other dodads. The carpet was beyond saving, which is a real shame as we'd hoped to reuse it upstairs.

AUGH! I wish I was there more to help. I had a selfish weekend away in Brighton, and was absent from any painting, tiling, or anything.

Sorry! I'm so excited to see the place--I bet it looks AMAZING now. It's incredible seeing how much it changes when you haven't been for a few days.
